Biography

Biography

Dr. Johnson attended Michigan State University for his undergraduate studies, with majors in Microbiology and Physiology. After graduating from Michigan State University, Dr. Johnson attended and graduated from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. Dr. Johnson was awarded the Trager Surgery Award. Dr. Johnson completed his General Surgery Internship at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa and then successfully completed his Otolaryngology Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Dr. Johnson enjoys the balance that otolaryngology offers—seeing patients of all ages and backgrounds with a wide range of concerns, from minor issues to complex conditions. He appreciates that the solutions can vary just as much, involving both medical and surgical treatments. Dr. Johnson chose a career in medicine because it combines his interests in both surgery and managing medical conditions, especially those involving complex anatomy. He finds inspiration and motivation each day from the challenge of caring for patients and helping them in the best way possible. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Johnson enjoys general otolaryngology and has volunteered his time assisting at local food banks. In his free time, he enjoys gardening—especially working with trees—as well as exploring electronics, reading and baking. He credits his family with being a strong guiding influence and providing support throughout his life and career.
