Biography

Christopher Harvey, MD, is a pediatric physician. After graduating from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, he completed his residency in pediatric medicine at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. During residency he completed the international health care track and served one month on a medical mission trip at Kudjip Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea. He came to work at a faith-based practice called Southwestern Medical Clinic (SWMC) in southwestern Michigan in 2005. SWMC provided him the opportunity to serve the local community and to participate in medical mission trips to several countries, including Kenya and Cameroon. SWMC ultimately integrated with the local community health system, Lakeland, which then became part of the Spectrum Health system, ultimately integrating into Corewell Health. Dr. Harvey serves on the board of SWMC to maintain its unique mission as part of Corewell Health. This board maintains the ability to have faith-based practice and continued support of many SWMC missionaries around the world. Dr. Harvey serves as the Medical Director for primary care and specialty practices for Corewell Health South. He serves as the Medical Director for the Lakeland Care Network that develops contracts with payers to bring value-based care to the people in our community. He serves on the West Michigan ACO board to bring excellent care to the lives it serves. He also serves as the President of the SWMC Foundation, a 501c3, to financially support medical missions through scholarships to residents and medical students participating in medical missions, infrastructure support for mission hospitals, and financial support of short-term medical mission trips. He enjoys teaching both medical students and family medicine residents as an outpatient pediatrician.
