Biography

Biography

Dr. Christopher Trigger is a board certified emergency medicine physician with fifteen years of experience working in an evolving emergency department setting. He has been additionally board certified in sports medicine using his skills as a team physician, medical director of multiple sporting and other events and running a sports medicine and concussion clinic. Dr. Trigger received a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University. He went on to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine for his Medical Doctorate degree. Dr. Trigger completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois Hospital and was the Education Chief Resident at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Trigger also completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and was the team physician for Robert Morris University, LaRoche College, and Mt. Lebanon High School. Dr. Trigger is employed by the Envision Healthcare where he is an attending physician at Corewell Health South in three Emergency Departments; Saint Joseph, Niles and Watervliet. He is a core faculty member for the Emergency Medicine residency at Corewell Health Lakeland and is a Clinical Assistant Professor with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). Dr. Trigger has presented on a variety of orthopedic and sports medicine topics at American College of Sports Medicine Annual Conference, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Orthopedic Sports Medicine Conference, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Annual Conference, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Conference, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center St. Margaret Sports Symposium, and Mercy Hospital and Medical Center Critical Care Conference. Dr. Trigger has published articles in the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine and the Annals of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Trigger has authored chapters on Clavicle Fractures and Hyperthermia: Heat Stroke, Exhaustion and Cramps in 5 Minute Sports Medicine Clinical Consult. As part of his Sports Medicine practice, Dr. Trigger routinely provides sports and events coverage. He was the Chair of Medical Services for the 2012-2024 Senior PGA Championship. He was the Medical Director of the Ironman 70.3 Steelhead Triathlon from 2010-2024. Dr. Trigger is also the team physician for Saint Joseph High School. Dr. Trigger is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), and the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians (MCEP).
