Alexandra Bayer, PhD, received her undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia in International Studies. She completed her MA in Religious Studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She earned her PhD in Religion from Boston University where she focused on the study of religion and politics in the United States and was a Religion, Spirituality, and Democratic Renewal fellow, funded by the Social Science Research Council. Dr. Bayer has more than eight years of experience in teaching and qualitative research in the humanities. Her research interests include medical education, cultural competency in the medical sector, and the importance of religious diversity for health equity. She is currently the Associate Director of Program Evaluation and Qualitative Measurement at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.
