Biography

Steven Huprich, PhD, ABPP, received his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY and has completed additional training at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. He board-certified in clinical psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and a fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 29 and 39) and the Society for Personality Assessment. Dr. Huprich is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy and has held faculty appointments at Wichita State, Eastern Michigan, Baylor, and the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita Universities. He has published seven single-authored or edited books, approximately 130 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and authored or co-authored over 200 presentations. Dr. Huprich is past Editor of the Journal of Personality Assessment, Associate Editor of the Journal of Personality Disorders, and Past President of the International Society for the Study of Personality Disorders. Dr. Huprich's interests are in the diagnosis, classification, assessment, and treatment of personality disorders and pathology.  He is currently editing a book on performance-based assessment of personality disorders and pathology using the DSM-5 alternative model of personality disorder diagnosis.
