Biography

Carlos Martinez, MD, MPH is a practicing Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician; his current clinical practice is at Oaklawn Hospital and Oaklawn Medical Group. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Martinez was a Faculty in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan where he received extensive training in the fields of Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care medicine and Health Services Research. Dr. Martinez also trained at the University of Texas, Medical Branch, in Galveston, Texas, where he completed Residencies in Internal Medicine and Occupational Medicine, and a Masters in Public Health. Furthermore, he previously had completed Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine in Bogota, Colombia (Universidad Nacional and Universidad El Bosque). Dr. Martinez developed, both at the University of Michigan and in Colombia, funded research in clinical, epidemiologic and imaging aspects of aging and COPD, as well as in Critical Care. Dr. Martinez's practice is focused on improving his patients experience and quality of life.
