Biography
Biography
Derissa F. Raynold, MD is a resident family medicine physician with the Family Medicine Residency Program - Kalamazoo. A graduate of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, she earned her undergraduate degree in Biology and German (double majors) in 2011 as a David and Pauline Bodle Scholar. She received her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA) in 2021 where she was recognized for her scholarship and designated a medical scholar with special assignments as a teaching assistant in anatomy, a tutor, and a prosector.
Immediately following her graduation from medical school, Dr. Raynold undertook an intensive nine-month clinical externship at a busy pulmonary and primary care clinic in Brooklyn, New York, where she honed her clinical skills in outpatient care in the largely underserved immigrant community. Dr. Raynold returned to AUA in January 2022 to take up a graduate teaching fellowship, pursuing her long-standing interest in teaching and medical education. There, she facilitated small group classes in basic science for first-year medical students. Her clinical, research, and teaching interests include medical education, patient care, and women's health in underserved populations.
Dr. Raynold, who was born and raised in Vienna, Austria, of Caribbean parentage (St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago), is bilingual in both English and German.
