Biography
Biography
John W Winters, MD, is a board-certified pediatric critical care physician at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has been with the hospital since December 1997. He completed medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska. Subsequently, he did his pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital Medical Center of Northern California, Oakland, California, followed by a pediatric critical care fellowship at the combined program of Children's Hospital Medical Center of Northern California, and the University of California at San Francisco. His first clinical position was at the Rockford Medical Center PICU, Rockford, Illinois. He then transferred to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital as a pediatric intensivist.
From 1999-2009, Dr. Winters was chairperson of Helen DeVos Children's Hospital's Pediatric Critical Care (PCC) QA/QI committee and sat on the Trauma QA/QI committee as well as the Pediatric Professional Standards committee. In addition he was co-chair of the Pediatric Blood Management Team. From 2009-2018 he served as the chairperson of the PCC Medication Safety committee.
Presently Dr. Winters serves as the PCC Nurse Practitioner advocate as well as a member of the Pediatric Neurocritical Care team. His clinical and educational interests include student/resident/APP education and neurocritical care.
