Jesse G Van Heukelom, MD, is a board certified general pediatrician with Bronson Children's Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is a graduate of the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, South Dakota. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, also in Vermillion. He completed his general pediatric residency at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital through Michigan State University/Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
After residency, Dr. Van Heukelom took a position at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron, South Dakota, as a general practitioner caring for children in the out-patient and in-patient settings. During his 6 years at Huron Regional Medical Center, he was elected to the Medical Staff Board as Vice President and then as the Chief of the Medical Staff. He also held positions on the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, Physician Council, Patient Experience Team, and Director of the Department of Pediatrics. He also held the position of Clinical Associate Professor for medical and physician's assistant students from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. He has great interest in medical education.
