Biography

Biography

Dr. Kelly Brown completed her undergraduate training at Western Michigan University in 2000 and medical training from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2006. In addition to Kalamazoo being her hometown, Dr. Brown completed her pediatric clinical clerkship with the former Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies.

In 2009, following her residency training at the University of Virginia, Dr. Brown pursued fellowship training in Academic General Pediatrics at the University of Rochester in New York. Dr. Brown completed an additional mini-fellowship in child and adolescent mental health at the University of Rochester and joined the Department of Pediatrics as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Brown has been a recipient of multiple merit and academic scholarships, as well as professional grant recognition for her fellowship project addressing provider communication, education, and asthma care. Dr. Brown is board certified in general pediatrics.

Dr. Brown is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Academic Pediatrics Association (APA) and is one of the national founding members of the APA Pediatric Fellows Special Interest Group. In addition to giving presentations at regional and local conferences, including the APA meeting in New York, New York, Dr. Kelly Brown has presented for the Pediatric Academic Societies’ (PAS) meetings in Vancouver, Canada and Denver, Colorado.

Throughout her career, Dr. Brown has worked closely with medical students and residents. In addition to mentoring, teaching, and scholarly activities, Dr. Brown remains active in direct patient care. Dr. Brown enjoys working with children and families dealing with complex medical conditions, as well as providing quality preventive care to pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood.
