Kelly A. Brown, MD, is the Residency Program Director and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine. Dr. Brown is a graduate of Western Michigan University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences in the year 2000. She earned her medical degree (MD) from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2006 and completed her Residency in Pediatrics at the University of Virginia Health Systems in 2009. In addition, Dr. Brown pursued a Fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics from the University of Rochester Medical Center, which she completed in 2012. Dr. Brown completed an additional mini-fellowship in Child and Adolescent mental health at the University of Rochester and joined the Department of Pediatrics as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Brown has been a recipient of multiple merit and academic scholarships, as well as professional grant recognition for her fellowship project addressing provider communication, education, and asthma care.
Throughout her career, Dr. Brown has worked closely with medical students and residents. In addition to mentoring, teaching, and scholarly activities, Dr. Brown remains active in direct patient care. Dr. Brown enjoys working with children and families dealing with complex medical conditions, as well as providing quality preventive care to pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood.
