Biography

Biography

Professional:

I graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine as an Osteopathic Physician (DO).  I subsequently did my Family Medicine residency at Mercy Health Partners in Muskegon, MI. I served as chief resident my final year of residency. I am Board Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. I have completed additional training in Cranial-Sacral OMM technique post residency. I have been adjunct clinical faculty for MSU COM and MSU CHM, prior to starting at Wmed, as an out patient preceptor for residents and medical students. I obtained Balint Group Training,  as well as volunteer as a childrens grief group facilitator for a total of 10 years. I currently hold a position at Wmed as Assistant Professor in the Family Medicine Department, Oakland Campus. I am also currently a scholar advisor at the medical school in Learning Community A. The Oakland site, in which I precept, is a clerkship rotation site for M3 and M4 students in Family Medicine. We also precept M1 and M2 ICE students. Additionally, I teach clinical skills for the professions of medicine course for M1 and M2 years.

Personal:

I am married and have 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls). I have several hobbies including yoga, running, photography, and painting. Professional interests include medical student/resident/physician mental health and well being as well as burn out prevention, grief and loss, OMM-Cranial, Women and Childrens Health, student affairs, Obesity Medicine/Medical weight loss Managment, Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity.
