Dr. Dilip R. Patel is a Professor and the Chair of the WMed Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Patel completed his medical school in 1982, with a degree of MBBS, from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Karnatak University, Belagavi, India. He completed his residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Ambulatory Pediatrics from Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 1989, followed by fellowships in Adolescent Medicine and Sports Medicine, from the Iowa Methodist Medical Center Blank Children’s Hospital and the Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies, in 1991. While continuing his academic career at the WMU Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine, Dr. Patel received an MBA in Medical Management, Beta Gamma Sigma, from Isenberg School of Management (2013), a Postgraduate Certificate in Global Health (2014), and, MPH in Public Health Practice and Global Health (2016), all from the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Patel is board certified in Healthcare Management and an elected Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Certified Physician Executive and a Vanguard member of the American Association for Physician Leadership. Dr. Patel is also an elected Fellow of the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Patel serves on numerous journal editorial boards, has presented on a wide range of topics nationally and internationally, edited more than 25 books, number of journal special symposia and published more than 300 papers and book chapters.
