Richard Nivala, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is a graduate of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He earned his medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He completed an internship with Borgess Medical Center (then called Borgess Hospital), then became an emergency medicine physician with Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Dr. Nivala later completed a residency in anesthesiology with Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He has clinical interest in difficult and awake intubations, arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, and epidural anesthesia in obstetrical care. He has been an Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor for over 35 years.
