Biography

Dr. Steven A. Maher is a Consultant in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Mayo Clinic Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona. He came to Mayo Clinic Arizona in 2012 as a Supplemental Consultant in the Department of Emergency Medicine after being at Banner Good Samaritan for 10 years, and was promoted to Consultant in 2016. Dr. Maher received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan and did his residency in Emergency Medicine at Michigan State University- Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies.

Dr. Maher is the founder and President of NAEMSP Arizona Chapter and a member of numerous professional societies related to Emergency Medicine and has been a volunteer physician for many community related organizations including medical trips to international underserved areas. He is a Fellow of the American college of Emergency Physicians and is sub-specialty board certified in EMS as a Fellow of the Academy of EMS.  He was an Adult Medical Director of Phi AirEvac Services and is a Flight Physician for AeroMed at Spectrum Health and is a reserve deputy with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, a reserve police officer with the Portage Department of Public Safety, and member of the posse for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department.
