Biography

Peter Gustafson, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Program in Medical Engineering. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Western Michigan University. He is employed by Western Michigan University. Dr. Gustafson is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a SB in Mechanical Engineering in 1999. He earned both his MS and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. Aligning with his appointments, Dr. Gustafson has research interest in the mechanics of composite materials, numerical and experimental methods for orthopaedic biomechanics, and finite element modeling and high performance computing.
