Biography

Kristine Gibson, MD, is the Assistant Dean for Clinical Competency and Interprofessional Education. In this role, she coordinates the clinical and professional development assessments of students in the MD degree program, serves as the chair of the Professionalism Subcommittee of the MSPC and oversees the Interprofessional Education 4-year curriculum and is the chair of the WMED Interprofessional Education Workgroup. Dr. Gibson is also a member of the Western Michigan University IPE Curriculum Committee and course director for Transition to Advanced Clinical Management.

Dr. Gibson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, providing specialty care for adolescents with eating disorders at WMed and consultations at Bronson Children's Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. Academic interests and current research are focused on the care of patients with eating disorders in the community setting, interprofessional education and practice, DEI/Belonging, psychological safety, resident and student as teacher curriculum, and professional identity formation. Dr. Gibson currently serves on the Bronson Health Foundation distribution committee, is past president of the Southwest Michigan Eating Disorders Association, and is an active member of the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics where she served as leadership for the Professional and Faculty Development Collaborative and is in her third year on the Annual Meeting Committee.
