Biography

Vitaliy Voytenko, PsyD completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at Wheaton College (Illinois) and predoctoral internship at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Mental Health Center. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in university mental health at Boston College. In addition, Dr. Voytenko holds a master’s degree in general theology. Prior to starting his role as Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, where he also holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Medical Ethics, Humanities, and Law, he worked at Alliance Clinical Associates, a multidisciplinary mental health group practice in the west suburbs of Chicago. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Training in the PsyD in Clinical Psychology program at Wheaton College. He had also worked at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he led the development of a depression center-of-excellence and taught and supervised psychiatry residents. In addition, he has held an adjunct/clinical faculty appointment in the Division of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine since 2013. His diverse research, teaching, and clinical interests include treatment-resistant depression, comorbid personality disorders, psychodynamic approaches to treatment, religion/spirituality in clinical care, forgiveness and flourishing, and training of psychiatry residents.
