Biography

Biography

Elizabeth Ward, MD, is a Pediatric Newborn Hospitalist with Ascension Borgess in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and completed her medical degree with Technion Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. Upon completion of her pediatric residency training in 2015 at East Carolina University (ECU) in Greenville, North Carolina, Dr. Ward achieved board certification in general pediatrics. She continued to practice in academic medicine as a Clinical Instructor, Chief Resident at ECU for one year (2015-2016) where she developed a passion for medical education and strengthening inpatient pediatric medicine in community settings. After residency, Dr. Ward gained invaluable experience as a locum tenens pediatric hospitalist serving various rural and vulnerable communities in North Carolina and the Northeast. Seeing the need for high-quality newborn care in community hospitals, which often lack pediatric units but maintain maternity wards, Dr. Ward refined her skills through sub-specialty training in neonatal intensive care. She completed two years (2019-2021) of fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Loyola University in Maywood, Illinois, and currently practices at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In addition to managing infants of level I and II nurseries, attending high-risk deliveries, and stabilizing sick newborns for transport, Dr. Ward continues her interest in medical education as a Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor.
