Biography

Lieutenant Marty Johnson is currently the director of the Kalamazoo Forensic Science Laboratory, a full-service forensic laboratory serving state, federal, and local law enforcement agencies of Southwest Michigan. Lt. Johnson has been employed by the county of Kalamazoo as a deputy Sheriff, Sergeant and Lieutenant since August of 1974 with most of his career as a forensic scientist. His Bachelor's degree is in Criminal Justice from Western Michigan University with graduate coursework from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, Quantico, Virginia. Lt. Johnson has been recognized as an expert in many areas of forensic science in various courts and has worked to increase the application of all sciences to legal questions that affect the application of justice.
