Biography

Mahesh Shrestha, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician with Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency with Mount Sinai Medical System's Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York. Prior to coming to Kalamazoo, Dr. Shrestha worked as pediatrician in Fort Dodge, Iowa, with Trinity Regional Medical Center/UnityPoint Health, and saw pediatric patients.

In addition to his residency in the United States, Dr. Shrestha graduated medical school at Universal College of Medical Sciences, Nepal, and also had completed a pediatric residency with Kanti Children's Hospital, also of Nepal. He also has previous experience as a medical educator, having been on the faculty of Kathmandu Medical College in Kathmandu, Nepal, for three years as a lecturer and assistant professor. He enjoys the educational and volunteer opportunities a career in medicine provides. He has done volunteer work in Maiti, Nepal and medical camps and likes doing social work, which fits with his belief that everyone should give back something to the society we live in.

Dr. Shrestha has done training workshops in pediatric and newborn critical care and has special interest in medical education, newborn care, and asthma.
